Guatemala Mission Trip Friday
Not much to report from our Friday travels… Other than…it was a lot of travel! A trip from Coban to Antigua, which should have taken about five hours, took nearly 10 hours due to construction and an incredible amount of traffic on a Friday afternoon. We were all grateful for a safe arrival in Antigua and the opportunity to end the day with a delicious dinner of crêpes and smoothies, enjoying our time together. Oh, and a few of us walked back to the hotel after dinner and saw

Guatemala Mission Trip Wednesday
Wednesday was a day of travel from Guatemala City to Coban, in the northern mountains. While only 135 miles, the trip took nearly 8 hours! After checking in to our hotel situated within a bird sanctuary, we spent time learning about Mayan Spirituality and its importance among the beautiful, indigenous people of this country. We’re full of gratitude to the Lord for safe travel and full hearts.

Guatemala Mission Trip Monday
After a smooth day of travel Sunday, the YPC Guatemala Mission Team spent Monday morning learning about the beautiful and difficult history of Guatemala politically and theologically. Club sandwiches and hamburgers were on the menu for lunch and then they toured the National Palace. It was a day of discovery and reminders that beauty and pain so often exist in this world right next to one another, and God faithfully is weaving an incredible story of redemption and salvation.

Bluebird Update
Our Bluebird nestling had fledged as of May 10, however our parents wasted no time building a new nest. Martha Graham cleaned out the box on May 10 and two days later the Girl Scouts and I noted the start of a new nest. On Sunday May 17, the Simpkins saw a complete nest with three eggs! These parents are not ready to be “empty nesters”. Deena Obrokta
