Exploratory Mission Trip

Pastor Laura, Kevin King, and Cary Radcliff went on an exploratory mission trip to Guatemala in July. They explored future mission partnerships with the Protestant Center for Pastoral Studies in Central America (CEDEPCA). This is an educational institution that contributes to the transformation of lives and contexts by providing training and accompaniment, and by offering spaces for reflection to women and men from diverse Christian traditions, communities and contexts.

The majority of one day was spent with the Heart of Women weaving cooperative, a group that CEDEPCA has a long partnership with to support women in supporting their families. It was a beautiful and transformative time hearing their stories, sharing around the table, and supporting them through purchases of their beautiful products, many of which the congregation will have an opportunity to purchase on July 20 when information about the trip will be shared during worship. The trip ended with a relaxing evening in the colonial capital of Antigua, as the trio began to reflect on all God opened their eyes to and how to communicate it to YPC in the days ahead.
