Vacation Bible School
VBS is offered free to all children who wish to participate. Learn about our theme, "Treasured"
Put Faith on the Map! Embark on an epic quest through hidden ruins, ancient caves, and dense jungles. At Treasured VBS, kids dig into action-packed, faith-filled adventures. They'll discover God's greatest treasure isn’t diamonds, gems, or gold–it's them!
We are living in strange, new times, and helping kids learn about Jesus is needed as much as ever! Due to Covid concerns, we are limiting the enrollment so that appropriate spacing can be maintained. All participants and volunteers will wear face-coverings indoors. Most activities will be scheduled outdoors as is feasible and appropriate, and CDC and state guidelines will be followed. We will continually evaluate and adjust throughout the summer as the Covid situation changes (hopefully for the better!)
Vacation Bible School (frequently referred to as VBS) is a week-long program that teaches children about God and his love for them through songs, games, crafts, and many other exciting activities. This year, Yorkminster's VBS program takes place in the mornings, Monday - Friday (exact times TBD). There is an optional open house Sunday night to get to know the leaders and layout of the program, and a concluding family program Friday night. Volunteers who work with the kids are trained and undergo a background check. We are blessed to have so many teachers, seniors, and willing parents and youth who make it their mission to shine the light of Christ to the participants of our VBS program.
Elementary (Rising Grades 1 - 5): They will engage in Bible study, recreation, sciency-fun and meaningful learning about kids like them around the world.
Pre-schoolers (kids who will turn 4 by Sept 30, and kids who will enter kindergarten in the fall): The activities will be geared to their age level, and allow more time for play. Both groups will enjoy the daily music opening and closing programs together.
Adult Volunteers: It takes a whole lot of people to make this event successful, and it's fun! There are lots of roles, from making decorations and getting everything ready ahead of time, to drama or shepherding kids through activities serving meals. Please let us know your availability by filling out the online volunteer form (available soon). We are sorry that at this time, we do not anticipate being able to offer daycare for children who are not old enough to participate in the in-person program.
Youth Volunteers: Rising 8th - 12th graders can volunteer to help with the crews, and help facilitate activities. Rising 6th and 7th graders will have their own program that will include Bible study, service projects and other activities. Youth who will be able to help and participate should fill out the volunteer form.
