General Information About Our VBS Program
Vacation Bible School (frequently referred to as VBS) is a week-long program that teaches children from PreK-grade 5 about God and his love for them through songs, games, crafts, and many other exciting activities. Yorkminster's VBS program takes place in the mornings, Monday - Friday. There is an optional open house Sunday night to get to know the leaders and layout of the program, and a concluding family program and cook-out Friday night. Volunteers who work with the kids are trained and undergo a background check. We are blessed to have so many teachers, seniors, and willing parents and youth who make it their mission to shine the light of Christ to the participants of our VBS program.
Ages: Preschool to rising 5th graders. For VBS, Preschoolers are kids who will turn 4 by Sept 30, and kids who will enter kindergarten in the fall.)
Adult Volunteers: It takes a whole lot of people to make this event successful, and it's fun! There are lots of roles, from making decorations and getting everything ready ahead of time, to drama or preparing snacks or shepherding kids through activities. Please let us know your availability by filling out the online volunteer form. Nursery is provided for children of volunteers.
Youth Volunteers: Middle schoolers can serve on our "Tech Team," working with Pastor Mike to take great pictures of all the fun for the slide shows, or they can help with the Preschool program. High schoolers can volunteer to help with the crews, as well as helping to design the decorations and facilitate activities. Youth who will be able to help with the week should fill out the volunteer form.
If you have questions about the VBS program, please contact Pastor Mike.
