Showing Christ’s love through tangible acts
CARE &
SUPPORT
At Yorkminster Presbyterian Church, we believe in showing Christ’s love through tangible acts of care and support for those facing life’s challenges.
Whether through prayer, meals, or one-on-one support, we offer several ways to help members and the community find comfort, guidance, and companionship during times of need.
STEPHEN MINISTRY
Yorkminster’s Stephen Ministry provides one-on-one Christian care to those navigating a personal crisis or life transition. Trained Stephen Ministers walk alongside individuals facing challenges such as bereavement, illness, unemployment, and more. This care is available to both church members and anyone in the wider community. Stephen Ministers uphold strict confidentiality and offer ongoing support for as long as needed.

DEACON MINISTRY
In the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), deacons are the caregivers of the congregation. Elected to three-year terms, Yorkminster’s deacons serve in a ministry of compassion, witness, and service. Their responsibilities include caring for people in need, connecting with church members, and helping to carry out the functions of the various mission teams.
MEAL TRAIN
Yorkminster organizes meal support through Meal Train, helping members who are facing difficult times by providing home-cooked meals. This program enables volunteers to sign up for specific dates to deliver meals, bringing care and connection to those who need it most.
For more information or to participate in a Meal Train, please contact Marilyn Adams at marilynja@att.net.
Prayer Corner
“Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ.” —Colossians 4:2-3
The Parlor is available each Sunday morning for a place of quiet reflection and prayer. Come and go anytime to pray for yourself, friends and family, church happenings, local and world events, or any concern or joy you want to share with the Lord.
Did you know? The Yorkminster sanctuary or Parlor is always open for you to pray—just come to the office Monday-Friday 9-4.
PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY
Through the Prayer Shawl Ministry, Yorkminster provides handmade shawls as a comforting gesture to those experiencing hardship. Each shawl is crafted with love and prayer, symbolizing care and support. Knitters and crocheters of all ages meet on Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m. to create these shawls, which receive a blessing before being gifted to those in need.
All are welcome to join, regardless of skill level.
