The mission of small groups at Yorkminster is to strengthen our relationship with Jesus Christ through building Christian community.
Small Groups will accomplish Christian Community where the congregation (guests, regular attenders as well as new and existing membership) can get to know one another in a way that is difficult to achieve during the limited time we are all at church functions.
A small group that is shepherded by the small group ministry team must include the following four things at each meeting/gathering:
- Prayer
- Group members commit to spending time hearing one another's joys and concerns, and then praying together for one another, the church, the community and the world at each meeting.
- Study
- Each group commits to spending time in the Word together at each meeting through a formal bible study and or structured devotional.
- Service
- Throughout their time together, each group commits to spend time together in some form of Christian service. This maybe through the existing ministry opportunities available through YPC or through a ministry outside of the church to which the group feels called.
- Fellowship
- Through the activities above and other informal activities, groups will spend time getting to know one another, building friendships and relationships with fellow Christians in our church and in our community.
