God is Leading Us

Yorkminster has a history of intentionally devoting time to prayerful contemplation of God's purpose for the Church and congregation. In January of 2008, the session approved the creation of a new Long Range Visioning Team. The purpose of the team is to spend time together in prayer, study and research in order to discern where God is leading our congregation in the way of ministry. The team spent a year engaging in prayer, planning, discussion, debate and study. They held focus groups and took surveys where much of the congregation gave the team their input.

In March of 2009, a vision document was drafted and approved by the session. Town hall sessions were held during the month of May to introduce the vision to the congregation. Follow these links to find the six-page approved vision document and the 32-page slide presentation from the town hall sessions.

God is Leading Us
Vision

Yorkminster Presbyterian Church exists to Love God and Love One another through faithful discipleship in Jesus Christ.

We measure our lives by the Great Commandment:

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. (Matthew 22:37-39)

We measure our ministry by the Great Commission:

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. (Matthew 28:19-20)
